Here are a few pics of some of the guitars I took to Woodstock this year. This first is a Dreadnaught done in Adirondack and Mahogany. the back is amazing. This one is a Grand Auditorium done in Engleman and Black Limba. The Bridge, pins,fretboard,head veneer and bindings were all sawn from the same piece of bocote. The back of the dread looks like the Shroud of Turin! Both guitars look great, Brian. The book matched bocote FB and head plate are a nice bit of detail. Alex |

Gorgeous guitars! Do you make your own purfling? I like it a lot. Looks like maple/mahogany/maple, am I right? Beautiful work all around. |

Yep Tony, I make my own wood bindings and purflings. Both of these are purfled with Mahogany and Maple, the scheme is just reversed from one to the other. The frets on the Dread are EVO alloy and the ones on the other are Nickle. They are dressed and polished as I always do. I like frets that shine like mirrors, I think they feel better and sound better. |

Very nice! The tops are a bit yellow for my taste, but the backs are gorgeous  I've always liked that type of crotch figure in mahogany, but never seen it on a guitar before.I love the rosette on the second one. Is that just your collection of abalone offcuts placed in the channel and then drowned in black CA? And you took these to Woodstock... but did you bring them back?

The original idea on the rosette was to use my cut offs that I have been saving......that didn't work out so well and I wound up cutting all those random pieces. And yes, I did bring them home, so if anyone is interested...... |

The frets are polished with the 3m polishing cloths from stew Mac. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Finishing_s ... Sandpapers, _finishing_papers/3M_Flexible_Polishing_Papers.html I wrap them around an eraser. |

Really beautiful! I'm not a huge fan of dreads, but love the wood choices and fit and finish of yours. I bet they sound beautiful!! |
